As so often happens when reading Dawn’s blog I was inspired. At the end of November Dawn posted a picture of their bulletin board. I loved the idea of having a visual reminder of what we are working on that week. I don’t have a large bulletin board (or a small one) in our school area so I made do with a large piece of poster board. The bulletin board is on the list of things I want to pick up for school along with a laminator and a paper cutter. So last week was my first poster. I included the picture books we were reading, the children’s spelling lists and some science notes. Our list of state capitals that they are memorizing. There were also a few images of St. Nicholas because we did several little crafts and stories to celebrate St. Nicholas Day. None of which I was bright enough to capture on the camera. This week’s poster focuses on Our Lady of Guadalupe, the children’s history notes, spelling words, Kelli is learning to print her numbers and again, the Christmas story. We are all enjoying Jan Brett’s Christmas Treasury which we borrowed from the library. Ryan has been reading about Babe Ruth and Katie is finishing up her book, Augustine Came to Kent. The children are participating in a prodution of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the spring, so they will be memorizing lines for a while. That image will remain on the poster until spring. I will contine to add things as the week goes along. Dave has been enjoying checking in with the poster when he gets home, he can keep up with the week’s work in a pleasant way, pointing things out and asking about them.
I attached the copies with just a bit of scotch tape and was able to change things out pretty easily. This won’t be a good solution for long so I better get shopping for that bulletin board!
Thanks Dawn for a lovely idea.
