Beginning on June 19th our beloved Pope Benedict declared this the Year of the Priest. The year will conclude on June 19th 2010 with an international gathering of priests in Rome.
This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to educate their children about the various duties of our holy priests as well as encouraging vocations among our sons.
Toward that end one of my favorite Liturgical Year resources Lapbooks for Catholics has put together a Faith Folder for The Year of the Priest. Lindy Meyer is the incredibly talented and creative mother of six children and creates these folders so that we can have a fun hands-on activity to increase our children's knowledge and love of their faith.
Lindy is also generous. She is going to let me give away on of her lovely Year of the Priest Faith Folders to one of my readers. So leave me a comment in this post and I'll pick a lucky winner on Sunday. Spread the word by posting the contest on your blog and linking back here and I'll enter your name twice. I'm that nice.
In the meantime go cruise around Lindy's site and see all of the lovely products she's created. Since many of us are planning next year's school work now is a good time to see what fun resources are available to help make the school year memorable for the children. The prices are reasonable and the products are lovely.
Comments will be closed by noon on Sunday.
Have a blessed day.
Thanks. I would love this. Will be starting to homeschool this coming year … preschool! Love your blog.
I’d love to win this for our family. We enjoy lapbooking (and were reps for a different lapbook company this year at conferences), but the idea of Catholic lapbooks is fantastic. I might just have to order up her prayers one for the younger boys (5 and 8) to really learn their prayers!
This looks like a perfect project for this Year of the Priest! Thank you for offering this chance to win it.
I used a few of the Catholic lapooks last school year and they are a wonderful. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to win the lastest!
I have a couple of Lindy’s lapbooks and I really like them. This one looks terrific!
We have enjoyed her Catholic lapbooks! We have done one for Advent and one for Lent so far.
We love her stuff! I was just checking this one out yesterday! Thank you to you both for offering this chance!
You are great! Thanks for keeping us up to date on the new faith folders! Can’t wait to check it out!
Please consider Alice G. as a possible recipient. In faith filled meetings at her home, prayer always includes petitions for more holy priests. This seems like it might be a fitting tribute. Thanks for mentioning this opportunity!
I would love to do this with my kids and will be checking out the lapbook site.
This would be an excellent activity for my twin boys – age 7 – as they will be preparing to make their First Holy Communion this coming year!
We’ve never done a lap book (blush) – this would be great!
How exciting! I’ve seen so many lapbooks but not Catholic ones so this is an incredible resource. I have four boys and a little lady and my boys have expressed interest in the priesthood (they are still too little but the fact that they actually express and interest makes my heart jump for joy!). I’m also new to homeschooling and never made a lapbook!
I used parts of their Works of Mercy, and it was amazing! We just made our first real lapbook at the end of the academic year, so I would LOVE to start another one, especially THIS one!
I have a middle school lap book boy that would enjoy The Year of the Priest lapbook. Lovely idea~ Donna
I haven’t yet used lap books with my nine kids, but I think I have some kids of the appropriate age and learning style. And I have a seven year old boy that told me last week he would like to be a priest. I’d like to keep that alive!
I would love this lapbook! We are starting a homeschooling support group in our parish and want to honor and learn about our priest this year. I think it is wonderful that the Pope has made this the year of priests. Thank you for offering this!
I would love to see this. This would be great to use with my 6 kids for the next school year–if I could wait that long!!!
This looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
The year of the Preist began on my twins( B/G)7th birthday and ends on thier 8th. This project might be a neat way to inspire some priests in this household of 6 boys and 4 girls!Maybe even my twin son!
I have always wanted to do a lapbook. This would be a great way to start.
Sounds like a wonderful lapbook. my 4 and 3 year old are so excited about priests lately as we just attended a friend’s ordination last month.
Looks like a great lapbook! Loved your story about Mr. Spivey.
This looks great I really liked her advent lapbook. I have posted a link on my blog
I love lapbooks and when I can combine religion with them it is even better. Thanks for sharing.
What a treasure. We are just getting into lapbooking. Thank you for sharing.
I meant to comment yesterday, but I think that I forgot. In any case, I don’t mean to do it twice and stuff the ballot box!
Thanks for this give-away. I’d love to win this lapbook.
God bless,
Michele F. in Michigan
I had the pleasure of seeing these and meeting Lindy at the KC conference–THEY ARE AWESOME!!! Thanks for the great giveaway, and for spreading the word about a wonderful product!
Oooooooooooh, this looks splendid!
We love lapbooks in our homeschool! What a wonderful idea to have one for the Year of the Priest!!
What a blessing!
Pick me!!! Pick me!!!
I have wanted to try her lapbooks…they look so very enticing. We just started lapbooking in Jan. and have found it to be a wonderful way for my daughter with LD’s to learn. She’s advanced over one grade level since we’ve started. AMAZING! Thanks for offering this chance.
I would LOVE to make this Lapbook with my children! Fantastic! Pax-Jodi
This looks really great – I’m going to check out her website after I leave a comment!
We love lapbooks and we love our Faith!
Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Would love to use this lapbook to celebrate the Year for Priests.
Its first appeared in the western United States, had been subjected to local miners and cowboys welcome, hence the name jeans.
