It struck me that the dinner post was not as complete as I
could have made it, mostly because I was a little distracted while writing it
and in a bit of a rush, not the best atmosphere for blogging ideas/plans.
I had wanted to address how I come up with dinner/meal ideas
and things like that. I mentioned the Saving Dinner book which was a great
jumping off point for me but I don’t use it exclusively anymore. I do use a few
recipes from that book though. Some
other resources for me for easy dinner
~ I don’t have her cookbook but have heard wonderful things about it. I do use
her website and I plan to get her cookbook soon.
Dawn's Blog ~ Use the Menu
Planning category on her sidebar. Great Stuff there.
Chris~ She is
an excellent cook and always willing to share.
You will have to do a bit of digging but it’s worth spending some time here.
Catholic Cuisine ~ The ONLY resource you will ever need for planning liturgical cooking.
Family Bites ~ a fun cooking blog written by a lady with small children.
Mennonite Girls Can Cook ~ A "new to me" group blog of family friendly recipes. Pour yourself a cup of tea and peruse.
on occasion and also my cookbooks and a binder of recipes that my mum gave me years
ago filled with some recipes of my Nana and my aunts, very heavy on the more
artery clogging ingredients but lovely to indulge in once in a while. Seriously, Tomato Soup Cake. I kid you not. And it's delicious.
If I stick to my looking ahead at the coming week plan then
ideally I will see if there are any feast days, celebrations which I can plan
into the menu while keeping in mind the busy schedule. I will also make note of any special items to
be picked up while running errands on the weekend.
I would also like to mention that for the second year in a
row we will be having a cow butchered and delivered here in the fall. The meat
is delicious and nutritious and grass fed. Our cow is right now residing
happily on a farm in Massachusetts unaware of what awaits him. I have also found out there is a poultry farm
not too far away where I can buy fresh, organic chickens. I am hoping to get
over there fairly soon as well.
I think this completes my dinner ideas, but you never know
what might pop into my head in the middle of the night.
Blessings to your day.
