I am a little late in posting this since Holy Week officially started yesterday. That’s just me though, always just a wee bit behind.
We had a busy weekend here at the Bonny Blue House but now I think we are settled in and ready to focus on the divine for the week.
Monday
***************************
Some time ago our bishop declared the Monday of Holy Week as a diocesan-wide Day of Reconciliation. Confessions are heard continously in my parish, so we are availing ourselves of this sacrament in order to be fully ready for the joy of Easter.
In keeping with the early Holy Week theme of cleaning, I am having the carpets professionally cleaned today and Katie and I are clearing out the kitchen cupboards and wiping them down, pitching what’s not necessary and generally clearing the kitchen of clutter. We have spent a lot of time during Lent de-cluttering and cleaning. I’m not nearly as far along as I would like to be but things are better. I managed to clean out the toy closet and school closet and we had the whole room painted. Now the carpet and upholstered furniture is being cleaned. So the room will be fresh and ready for Easter.
After the children go to bed I am going to scrub out the fridge and prepare it for the grocery delivery tomorrow morning.
Tuesday
***************************
Between six and nine my groceries are scheduled to come.
We will spend part of the day at a friend’s home helping to sew and prepare costumes for our upcoming production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I will be blogging more about the play shortly. We also really need to do some school work this week since we have been very in and out around here lately. We need to catch up on some math and other subjects.
Wednesday
**************************
Play practice and a lesson or two when we can sneak it in. We will also be doing some artwork from A Catholic How To Draw with some copywork from The Easter Story
After practice, a general bedroom tidy will be needed. The bedrooms have been cleaned, culled and organized but after a few days we need to stop and pick up and neaten all over again.
Thursday
**************************
The Paschal Triduum begins, no lessons until next week.
9:00 a.m. The Liturgy of Morning Prayer at our parish
Make some Hot Cross Buns for tomorrow.
Empty the Holy Water fonts.
Dye Easter eggs and work on egg crafts.
Make mosaic crosses.
Read The Very First Easter
Grandma is visiting so that will be fun.
Ryan is singing at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper in the evening. Dave will be taking the bigger kids since this is too late for two toddlers and two infants. It’s just asking for a meltdown.
Friday
*******************************
Hot Cross Buns for breakfast and that’s it for Dave and I until dinner.
Between 12:00 and 3:00 there are no electronics. This is a very quiet time in our home. We pray the sorrowful mysteries and we read and reflect quietly.
Attend the Liturgy of the Passion of Our Lord
After a simple dinner we may, this year, allow the older children to watch The Passion of the Christ. I’m still on the fence about it. I think it is valuable but so brutal. Maybe just the beginning. Either way, Dave and I will watch it. For the little ones I will read Tale of Three Trees and I actually have a beautiful video of that book as well. I can’t find a link to it anywhere.
Saturday
*********************************
Music lessons (nothing beats a starving musician for work ethic, they never cancel).
Bake for Sunday
Spruce up the house
I do have to run out and shop a bit for Erin’s birthday which is Monday.
Some Easter paper crafts.
When the children go to bed Dave and I will assemble baskets. Seven baskets takes some time to get together. Especially since I am fussy about them looking pretty.
Sunday

REJOICE!!!
The best friend in the world invited us to her house for dinner and celebration! Whoo hoo!
