I like the trend of not making resolutions but setting goals. I’m good with goals. Mostly because they don’t make me feel stuck the way a resolution can. Resolutions are iron clad. Goals are a little more forgiving. I have lots of goals, some carried over from last year others brand new.
- To be better organized about lesson planning. I totally dropped the ball on this this year and we are sufffering for it.
- To be more creative in my approach to different subjects
- To be more spontaneous
- To take more field trips
- Focus a lot more on nature study and the glory of God’s creations.
- To finish at least one of the two books I’ve started.
- To lose weight (I know I am very unique).
- To become more fit and strong through (gulp) exercise.
- To stop complaining (believe it or not this is not a new goal).
- To have a more regular prayer time (or times) throughout the day.
- To read more worthwhile books.
- To be less sarcastic (stop laughing Dave).
- To play outside more often.
- To keep my sanity during the construction.
- To keep up with my new housekeeping routine.
- To clean out a declutter all the hot spots in the house.
- To fully embrace simplicity when decorating the new spaces.
- To weed out as much plastic as possible.
- To take my planner everywhere and not make a move without it.
- To get up early, early, early every morning. Things go better when I do.
- To do laundry every single day. Except Sundays.
- To plan the week so that Sunday is a true day of rest.
- To spend time every evening envisioning how I want the next day to happen and take whatever steps are necessary to make it happen.
- Set up regular prayer times during the day and stick to it.
- I’m good on First Fridays, now I want to add First Saturday devotions to my month.
- Find time for Adoration.
So that’s what I’m working on for 2008. Wish me luck and by all means pray for my success!

All of your goals sound very reasonable and doable Mary Ellen, way to go!! It’s neat to see them out in the open, very accountable 🙂 Praying too!

What an inspiring collections of goals! I like how you broke it down by area–if it were just a long list, how overwhelming it could be!
I’ll bet at the end of the year, you’ll have a lot to feel proud of. And, since you asked, I’ll be happy to send up a prayer for your success!
Warmly,
Eileen

I love your list of goals. I think I’ll borrow some of them. 😉

Best of luck with First Saturdays, Mary Ellen. I think if you do both you score a double novena
I have thought often of doing it but somewhere my resolve slips. I am just pleased I have continued my novena to Mary McKillop for a church friend who has bone cancer and my novena to St Jude, one of my favorite saints for my children. I am going to read a Mother rule of life to get my act together as they say

Love all the goals you’ve set… I saw many of my own personal goals in there as well. May the Lord bless you as you work on them!
I must also say CONGRATULATIONS on your addition! As another mother of 7 living in a small house (we don’t call it “dinky-town” for nothing!), I can share your frustration… and can only imagine your joy at enlarging your home! May He bless you and your family tremendously!
