My friend Bridget had these words of wisdom;

In the following years we will have to surrender much of our property, we will be legislated into silence and the loss of life will be astounding. I can only pray that God’s ultimate plan for the salvation of the world is not thwarted and that souls will be converted. Remember that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church of Christ.

I was so sad this morning. It took me hours to shake it. I am terrified of the regime that will follow in the wake of this election. God have mercy on us.
I am a die hard Republican who voted for McCain, but I have to say that I do not understand your despair. Nor do I understand your unfair, uncalled for attempts to paint Obama as some baby killing maniac who is going to destroy our country.
While you may not agree with all (any?) of Obama’s policies, can you you really controvert the fact that drastic change might be what is needed? I voted for McCain perhaps out of foolish loyalty to my party, but the Republican party has led us down a path of war, damaged if not destroyed our relationships with many nations around the world, created an astronomical deficit and led our economy straight down the toilet.
Could McCain be a better president? Maybe. But he also could have turned out to be 4 more years of George W. Bush. That is scary. And what if he died the day after his inauguration? Given the state of affairs in this country is Sarah Palin the person you want in the oval office? That would be even scarier.
While your religious beliefs and position on topics like abortion may have led you to pull the lever for McCain, please remember that not everyone shares your views. So, lets not jump off the roof just yet. Obama is a fresh face and has gotten people excited about their government and politics again. Lets say a prayer and give the guy a chance.
