We are cold and in the dark but we are here. I am writing this courtesy of our neighbor's generator. How bizarre is it that my lights are out but my next door neighbor has them?
Our village made national news and a lot of kind people emailed and Facebooked my to find out how we fared. We are fine. Our house did not sustain any damage, thanks be to God, but many of our neighbors now have trees stuck in the their homes or telephone poles laying across their lawns, hence the no power situation. It's looking to be AT LEAST a week before we get lights. Or hot showers. LIPA (our power company) says a week to ten days but they lie to us on a regular basis so I'm not hopeful.
The National Guard is here due to looters.
There is a special place in hell for people who do that… just saying.
We can't get around to easily due to power lines and other dangerous road conditions and gasoline is hard to find. When you do find it the prices are crazy.
Yes price gouging deserves it's own circle in hell too, did Dante address it? I forget.
So we are just hunkered down, doing school, reading books and playing out in the backyard as the weather permits. I am very thankful that we are in as good as shape as we are, many have lost everything, and conditions are much worse even a few blocks from here.
I will check back soon. Your prayers would be appreciated.
