Today, on the day most of the public schools in the area had their last day of school, one of our local Catholic homeschool groups celebrated the official beginning of summer with Mass and a talent show. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Juniper one of our beloved Franciscan Friars of the Renewal . He gave a beautiful talk after Mass to the moms and children about evangelizing by living your faith. After that several of the children performed. Many wrote and recited beautiful poetry. I was so impressed by our literary friends. My children played their instruments.
Erin played Colors of the Wind which is a piece she also played in her recital.
Ryan played and sang Hail Holy Queen. I admit to being a little welled up.
Katie executed Bach’s Minuet 3 beautifully.
Two girls performed an Irish step dance routine as well. It was quite wonderful to see all of these children display such enthusiasm for their interests. As Father Juniper said, "the winner of the talent show is God, he loves to see you all using the gifts he gave you."
After the show we ate a lovely potluck lunch (too many sweets for me :)!) It was a great way to begin the summer.
