to everyone who chimed in about our bird sighting. The consensus was that he was in fact a Great Blue Heron. They are not common in the area but there is a park and nature trail a few miles away where they are not a totally rare occurence. Perhaps our guy was stretching his wings.
I’ve been keeping our bird feeders full and we have been captivated lately by cardinals, chickadees, common brown sparrows and mourning doves. Keeping these little fellas fed has become quite a job around here!
This morning, very early, we had a flock of gulls on our lawn picking through our garbage pails which the squirrels had gotten into (again) knocked over and spread the contents all over the lawn. We hosted our family rosary group last night and there was all manner of pizza crusts in the bags.
Note: Sea gulls LOVE pizza crusts.
