We arrived back in New York late on Sunday. It was an endless 16 hour drive punctuated by car sickness and coughing. We picked up a hideous bug in Savannah and we left there in the wee hours Sunday (the unaffected among us went to Mass Saturday night) with fevers, coughing, sneezing and general misery.
Were you surprised I didn’t post for Saint Patrick’s Day? I was so out of it yesterday I could not have linked two thoughts together if my life depended on it. The day passed in a cloud of feverish shivering and hacking coughing. I wish I could have written the lovely reverential Holy Week appropriate post about the feast day that has been lurking in my head for a few days. Alas, it was not to be. I’m better today, not well yet, but better.
So our Holy Week has started off in a penitential manner. The list of things I want to accomplish and do with the children has been replaced with:
- Get everyone healthy
- Buy some food
That’s it. Anything else is gravy.

Boy, you’ve had a tough week. I’m so sorry the kids are sick. You’re in my prayers.
