“Are they all yours?”
I get asked that at least twice a week. It doesn’t bother me much. I
realize having seven children makes me a bit unique by societal norms.
It’s one of those questions that pop out of people’s mouths when they
see me and my tribe out and about on those everyday errands that wear
mothers out.

Mary Ellen,
I really enjoyed your article – funny and informative (especially so since I’m not Catholic). Probably because I’m not, I have a question:
In the article you said that “Children are a gift, a blessing and means to our salvation.” Having 2 of my own I completely understand the first 2 (!), but the 3rd puzzles me. Can you help me understand it more?
Thanks for the help and for your writing.
Blessings,
Tari

Thanks for this article! We need more like this to get the word out about the truth of NFP.

Thank you for the article. I have four children and use NFP. With our four children we get those crazy questions. Children our a blessing and how I pray society will see them as that.
Thanks again, Kelly

Loved your column! It’s about time we hear about NFP in a diocesan publication. You never hear it in homilies or in church bulletins. Kudos to TLIC for printing it.

HI Mary Ellen
You gave me a good laugh. Why can’t the stickybeaks just mind their own business especially the stupid woman on the soccer field. You should have said that they are all international adoptions that would have really stymied her. I cannot understand how people can’t mind their own business and keep their comments to themselves. However recently I have been guilty of this when I askeid a young very milk white woman was her dark Indian looking child adopted and up popped her dark Tamil husband
