It had to be done. Yesterday at Mass a very nice lady went on and on about how cute "she" was, in spite of his obvious boy clothing. Dave had had enough. He isn't particularly tolerant of feminized boys.
Sigh.
I'm going to go mourn the loss of those curls.

He looks adorable with his new haircut.
Once, when my curly-haired one was still a baby, my hairstylist wanted to “even out” her curls. When he finished, I was teary-eyed and remorseful.

I’m sad with you. I only have one boy but his first haircut just broke my heart.
My brother had curls. Sitting in the grocery cart just around 1 year old, he was greeted by an old lady who proclaimed that he was such a pretty girl. Being articulate earlier than most others, he stated very indignantly “I’m not a girl, I’M A BOY!” The poor elderly lady took off with a quickness, and a “HUMPH”.
His first haircut was VERY shortly after that.
He looks so cute in both pictures! We had to do the same thing with my little guy a few months back… one too many “what’s HER name” and “how old is she” questions! And he’s my only one with curls (so far!). But… they grow back!!
first, he looks adorable with his new haircut too. but, i understand the lamenting about the curls. our oldest had tons and tons of curls and i waited until she was over three to get her a haircut because i just couldn’t handle the thought of cutting them off. i waited until her hair had grown out so much that she only had them barely at the ends. i still cried. i haven’t had a curly haired one since. maybe this one will be different. 🙂
Oh, I know what you mean, one of my boys had beautiful curly hair, big blue eyes and people thought he was a girl, it was hard cutting the hair ’cause he was so cute!

I totally understand – the same thing happened here with my son about 8 or so years ago – my mother-in-law still brings up Joe’s loss of curls….but like your hubby, my hubby had had enough and took matters into his own hands….
