Christine had a few questions about Monday's post;
i love fall, too. where did you get that little post card holder? and what is that book open too? and how are you propping them open? paper clips. i'm not sure why, but I've never thought of using plate holders/cookbook holders to hold open a book – and i've been trying to figure out how to do just that!
Thank you for asking Christine.
The postcards and little card holder came from A Child's Dream Come True. I found them at that site when I was searching for wool felt a while back. I have some weird reactions to acrylic felt so I really only use wool felt for crafts here. Anyway the new-ageyness of the website is annoying but the pictures are soothing and pretty and I use that little card holder for all sorts of things.
The big book holder came from Home Goods and the smaller one which is made to look like a tree branch came from a local thrift store. I also have some book holders I've picked up at Michaels.
You didn't ask but the apothocary jars are from Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I rarely spend a lot of money on stuff like this, discount stores and thrifts shops are prolific in these kinds of display objects.
I have been on the lookout for a nice picture of St. Francis to prop up on the window above the table.
That book you asked about is Be Blest: A celebration of seasons by Mary Beth Owens. It is open to the September page. Each page has a little blessing about the month pictured. It's not Catholic but the illustrations are pretty and the blessings simple. I always add a Catholic line or two when I read it out to the children. 😉 It seems to be out of print but you can buy it used pretty inexpensively on Amazon and probably other places as well. The illustrations are ones my children enjoy copying.
I hope that answers your questions Christine, thanks so much for asking!

aww. thanks for taking the time. i never have much luck at marshall’s for the book holders. i keep looking. but now i have two reasons 1) to hold plates, 2) to hold books. i’ll have to find a different place for that card holder. i’m looking for something like that for holy cards.

just wanted to add b/c it looks like they don’t have them anymore. i’m sure another new age-y waldorfy touchy feely (natural products only) that has them.
