I did a big scrub up of the dining room table this morning. It is the responsibility of one of the children to do this after dinner but after a few days it generally needs the closer attention that only I give. After a scrubbing and a drying and a polishing with beeswax it shone in the late afternoon sun (SUN!). Those floweres were purchased on February 1st for a gathering here and they are starting to freak me out because they have not withered or browned a bit. I feel like they aren't somehow, natural. Still very pretty though.
These days a great deal of my happy comes from drinking hot tea from a mason jar and standing next to an oven that is cranked up high. I'm cold. This was taken as a marathon pizza dough making session was taking place this week. I made two pizzas for dinner and four dough balls for the freezer. Making dinner easier for days when it's hectic makes me happy.
This makes me smile. I spent a large portion of my childhood in this very position in a similar chair reading books. He spent about two hours like that. I wouldn't be able to stand up straight for weeks if you could find a chair that would accomodate me folded up like that.
It's also amusing that he is wandering around here in shorts while I am wearing a wool Irish sweater, wool socks, a scarf and furry slippers.
My pizza always turns out a little weird. It tastes good, very good according to my kids, but there is always some wacky thing that happens with the crust. In this case it went bowl-like on me. This created much awe and exclaiming from the little people but I was irked. I would like, someday, for my pizza to look like it came from a pizza place. Maybe you just need the real pizza oven for that. Suggestions are welcome.

What a weird thing to happen to a crust! I use this recipe for my pizza crust: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=2020840
I add basil, oregano, garlic, and thyme to the dough (about 1/2 tsp each) and make a lot in advance and freeze it – it’s sooooo good and looks restaurant-good, too! Do you use a pizza stone? It looks like you do, but that’s definitely what made the big difference for me…
