Patti Maguire Armstrong and Theresa A. Thomas have written a book that is so much more than a book. It's a retreat, it's an outing with friends, it's an inspiring uplifting look at the homeschool lifestyle and the accompanying challenges and graces.
Each essay chronicles the love with which a particular family embraces this life we live. There are funny accounts and sad ones as well as essays that have you nodding along and others that make connections you've been seeking for years.
I've had the book for a while now, it rests on my nightstand where I envision it being for years. When I first received it I waded right in and read it straight through but I firmly believe it is the kind of book that begs to be dipped into often and randomly. I have loved those little mom moments of ten or fifteen minutes when I just pick it up and read. Often, what I open up to is just what I need at that moment and I can go about the rest of the day refreshed, as if I've had tea with a friend.
Speaking of friends, I have several that are contributors as well as a few colleagues. All women I greatly admire and whose lives and writing have blessed me again and again. You might think this will bias my opinion, and perhaps it does but that doesn't mean I'm not right in my assessment. I know the hearts of these talented ladies. They have gnerously shared their stories and Patti and Theresa made them available to everyone.
I'm so glad that they did!
